Biography
Veronica, originally from Caracas, Venezuela, started dancing ballet at the age of five. After switching and dancing five years in the art of flamenco she moved to Miami, Florida, and trained one year under Estrella Moreno. Afterward, she moved to Austin, Texas with her family where she studied ballet at Austin School of Classical Ballet and took dance at Westwood high school and was a part of the dance team Warrior Pride and then was in the drill team as a Sundancer.
Veronica graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a B.F.A. In Dance with a certification in dance education through the Uteach dance program. She has performed works by Alvin Rangel, Shen Jun, Charles Anderson, etc. Including UT's production musical "Little Women" and made original works herself. Aside her college training, she also attended intensive programs such as Joffrey Ballet, Mark Morris Dance Group, Ballet West, and worked with American Ballet Theatre summer intensive in Austin. Veronica had the opportunity to compete for YAGP and performed Nutcracker roles like reed flute (Former school Southwest Ballet Academy).
Upon graduation, she danced the Arabian pas de deux role with the Allegro Ballet of Houston academy and now currently performs works with Ventana Ballet Company and The Dance Project.
Veronica has extensive training in Vaganova technique however, her teaching repertoire spreads throughout the spectrum: contemporary, hip-hop, jazz, social dance (Ballroom, Latin, country – trained by Sonia Jupiter), and choreography.
She has experience with commercial work and acting roles such as being lead for Ms. Anita, a short film by director Richeler Aladdin now on amazon prime, and acting as the lead for Flight of the Dancer, a UT RTF short-film now on Vimeo to name a few.
As a dance educator, she is presently the dance director at Noel Grisham Middle School - a world IB school where she continues to expand her dance curriculum. She teaches ballet classes at Shirley McPhail School of Dance, as well as preballet classes at her former dance studio, Austin School of Classical Ballet.
Veronica continues to work on dance performances, acting roles, and teaching opportunities within the Austin community whenever possible.
